Transparency in Mathematics Research: MMNP Article Demonstrates Our Open Science Policy

We recently announced that five of our mathematics journals, published in partnership with the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), are advancing open science with a new, prescriptive data and code sharing policy. Earlier, we announced that one of these journals, Mathematical Modelling of Applied Phenomena (MMNP) partnered with Peer Community In (PCI) to enable transparent peer review of preprints. This recently published paper in MMNP demonstrates these policies in action by including a code availability statement, code citation, and a peer review statement.
Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena receives impressive CiteScore

Following the release of the latest CiteScores by Scopus, Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena excels in facilitating mathematical modelling and simulation, boasting an excellent CiteScore of 5.9, positioning it in the 83rd centile. Notably, in 2020, MMNP became the first mathematics journal worldwide to transition to a Subscribe to Open (S2O) open access model, making significant strides in promoting accessible and inclusive scientific research.

We are delighted to release the Subscribe to Open (S2O) 2023 Transparency Report for our mathematics journals* co-published by EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Industrielles et Appliquées (SMAI). Following the announcement that the journals will continue to publish in open access in 2023, this report marks our third consecutive year of providing this comprehensive overview, reinforcing our commitment to transparency. By presenting a detailed analysis of metrics such as subscription prices, subscription renewals, costs, and usage data, it offers a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of the S2O initiative for these titles.
Maths journals adopt new Data Policy to encourage transparency on research data

Many research papers published in mathematics journals include numerical results obtained through computation. By default, EDP Sciences has a policy of encouraging authors to upload data and code related to their research to an online repository, and to include a data availability statement and data/code citations in their articles. Five of the maths journals published by EDP Sciences in partnership with the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) have implemented a more prescriptive data sharing policy.
Library community backs Subscribe to Open Mathematics journals - open access continues in 2023

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (MMNP), a research journal published by EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), has become the first mathematics journal to partner with Peer Community In (PCI). PCI is a non-profit, non-commercial platform that publishes recommendations of preprints after peer-review through specific communities of researchers.
